Český Krumlov & South Bohemia Photo Tour Itinerary

Leave everything to us and focus entirely on creativity!

Český Krumlov

It’s no wonder that Český Krumlov, in Bohemia’s deep south, is considered to be one of the most picturesque towns in Europe. Your private tour starts in Prague where we will pick you up and drive to the hotel in the center of this charming town. The late afternoon, once all the tourist hustle and bustle has calmed down, is the right time for us to dive into photography. We will guide you through the labyrinth of cobbled narrow lanes, over old bridges, and past the castle above the Vltava river which dominates the town panorama.

The streets look even more charming in the glow of dim street lights, and we will definitely photograph the sun setting over the old town.

cesky krumlov off the beaten path, Czech Republic photography workshop

The next morning, we will wake up early so we can be in the right place at the right time to capture the sun’s first rays touching the roofs.

The town is surrounded by meanders of the Vltava River, which presents great opportunities for long exposures and for capturing reflections of the houses on the water’s surface.

We will also be sure to visit hidden locations and use the best morning light conditions in the streets until all the tourists arrive.

Holašovice

After breakfast and the sunrise shooting in Český Krumlov, we hit the road again and explore another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Holašovice, situated amid the harmonious South Bohemian landscape, is surely the most charming village in the whole Czech Republic. The history of this authentic Bohemian village dates back to the 13th century. The houses, as you see them now, are basically the same as they were in the 16th century.

Here, we will have fun with creative composition and shapes as well as with architectural details.

Chateau Hluboká

Our second stop will be the fairytale Hluboká Chateau, which is considered to be one of the most significant Romantic chateaus in central Europe. During its history, which dates back to the 13th century, the castle was reconstructed several times from Gothic then Renaissance and Baroque to its current Romantic style of England’s Windsor Castle.

The castle itself is very photogenic, its rectangular-shaped courtyard is perfect for architecture/abstract photography, whereas the lines and shapes in the gardens will challenge our composition skills.

Vltava River Meander

Finally, in the evening we will go to our sunset location, which is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. After a short ascent, we will be rewarded with an elevated view of the spectacular Vltava river meander.

This part includes a short but steep hike and is optional. The Vltava River is the longest river located within the Czech Republic, and it runs through Český Krumlov and Prague. After this last photography session, we will drive back to Prague and drop you off at your hotel.

  • 5 star ratingFantastic Photo Tour My 15 year old son and I did an afternoon tour with Martin last week. Both Martin and the tour were fantastic. Martin is very easy going and easy to chat with, making us both feel comfortable right away. My son and I are not technically advanced photographers and Martin was very patient with us both and was helpful in giving us tips on how to improve our photos. He took us to some great places that we would not have found on our own and we tried many different kinds of shots - landscape, cityscape,... read more

5 star ratingMartin is fantastic! First, let me say that it still amazes me how easily I was able to contact Martin, schedule a tour/shoot and then have it all play out seamlessly. Martin met us at a predetermined spot. Martin then guided us through Old Town in Prague and was patient with me as I went through all the machinations to set my camera to the proper settings. Since I am a novice, his tutoring was extremely helpful. Perhaps the highlight of our trip was during twilight atop a hill overlooking the river and the Charles Bridge. Martin is knowledgeable, polite, friendly and eager... read more

5 star ratingExcellent Prague Photo Tour I did the evening tour in September 2019 and found it extremely helpful to accelerate my photography skills. Martin was an excellent teacher and willingly shared his experience about camera settings, composition, night photography and capturing the best photograph etc.

As a photography newbie it was great to be able to interact with Martin to ask and have answers to the questions which a gaggle of "You Tube" videos fail to answer or just leave you more perplexed after watching.

I would highly recommend Martin's Prague Photo Tour as a must do in Prague.

5 star ratingGreat photo tour of Prague I did the evening tour. Martin was very accommodating by rescheduling due to rain on the originally scheduled day. He took me to several great spots around Prague and even though it was mid August and very crowded in the city he knew key spots that had little to no people! Martin spent time helping me with composition, exposure settings, and knew features of my camera that I wasn't even aware of. He was very helpful. I highly recommend Martin's Prague Photo Tour.

  • 5 star ratingGreat night photography I was on the fence about booking this but I'm so glad we did! We're both amateur/beginner photographers and because of Martin we now have some great photos from our trip to Prague. During this 3 hr your he taught me quite a few things about my camera that I used during the rest of the trip. He also organizes intense photo tours to exotic locations like Iceland, Myanmar, etc that last over a week... So he has a lot of experience teaching photography techniques to all skill types. This definitely showed during our small 2 person tour with him.... read more

We went straight to the best photo spots, away from the tourists crowds and at the best time of the day for lighting conditions. Martin always had the right advice for me, he even lent me some material and taught me things little tricks on my camera I wasn't aware off even. It's really worth it if you want to come back with good photos from Prague.

  • 5 star ratingSuch an awesome experience! It was so much fun discovering Prague, while learning some new photography tricks. Martin is an amazing person and certainly knows what he is doing behind the camera. We met for a sunset tour and then a morning tour the following morning and I got to practice street/architecture photography, composition and long exposure. He even made some suggestions about how certain shots could be post processed. Martin was also kind enough to let me borrow his telephoto lens and tripod, which I was very grateful for since I did not have to bring those on my trip with me.

5 star ratingEverything I hoped for and more. Martin was good company throughout the tour. Apart from finding great locations to take photographs, Martin encouraged my own compositions, camera setting etc and then discussed ways to improve or develop ideas. I found the whole experience very rewarding and learnt a huge amount. I came away with so much more than a set of fantastic photos and have been able to put a great deal of what I learnt into practice since the tour; I have seen a big improvement in my photography. You are paying for more than a great experience and some great photos of Prague, you... read more

5 star ratingExcellent Photo shoot tour in Prague!! This was one of the best highlights during my trip in Prague to have a photo session. Martin was very professional, and responded quickly through emails communication. During the photo shoot session, he showed us areas that were very nice to take pictures which we would not have found by ourselves. He was very accommodating and helpful. The pictures were delivered within the time frame and we were very satisfied with the quality of the pictures. Highly recommended!!

5 star ratingSunset Photography Tour Martin is an experienced professional photographer who gives photography trips to most all the iconic places. He was real helpful, knowledgeable, was quick to identify ways to improve my photography and was patient. He was well prepared and was well acquainted with each site we visited. I consider myself a pretty good photographer, but I learned a lot. Best of all I left the tour with some great shots even without a true sunset as it was overcast. I consider myself fortunate to have taken the tour with him as my guide.

  • 5 star ratingGreat photo walk and tour I was in Prague on a short business trip but able to squeeze in a few hours for photography. Martin was highly accommodating to my limited schedule, and while it was not at the ideal time of day, we spent a very productive and interesting few hours exploring both lesser known and more common sites in Prague. A great instructor, a good conversationalist and an excellent photographer, Martin willingly shared his knowledge of the city with me, and helped improve the images I would otherwise have tried to capture on my own. Great time, highly recommended!

5 star ratingUnforgettable experience I was skeptical of the quality of photographer I would get on one of these tours but Martin was an extremely professional, highly regarded photographer and I felt very lucky to have 3.5 hours of his time. He taught me so much and provided me with the tools and training to capture my favorite photographs of Prague to take home and call my own. It was an unforgettable experience and impressed upon me the value of working with someone so good at what he does. Thank you Martin!

Made sure that great images were captured. Ordered an Uber to safely returned me to my hotel. Followed up afterwards on points we discussed. I will always recommend Martin for tours and a tutor.
