Patagonia Photo Tour Itinerary

Let’s go explore the land of peaks and glaciers

“In Patagonia, you feel as if you are walking through a living painting, where every vista is a masterpiece and every moment is a brushstroke of perfection.”

Days 1 – 2

Upon arrival at Punta Arenas, the southernmost large city in the world, our journey heads northward to the eagerly awaited Torres del Paine National Park. Renowned as one of Chile’s most famous national parks, it features the breathtaking Cordillera del Paine, one of South America’s most impressive mountain ranges. The park’s iconic three granite peaks dominate the views but beyond the mountains, the park offers a diverse landscape with massive glaciers, crystal-clear lakes, enchanting swamps and fairy-tale cypress forests.

We will stay directly by the famous Lake Pehoe offering truly breathtaking views and countless opportunities for impressive compositions.

Days 3 – 4

We continue exploring more locations covered in Autumn colors like Salto Grande waterfall and various lagunas. When the sky is clear we don’t miss the opportunity to shoot Milky Way and the night sky above the Paine Massif.

The expansive national park also hosts a diverse array of wildlife. We may photograph especially beautiful guanacos, which are closely related to domesticated llamas, but also the majestic Andean condors, foxes, and a variety of bird species. Accompanied by our local guide, we will attempt to spot even a puma in its natural habitat.

Days 5 – 6

After a sunrise shoot, we’ll leave behind the beauty of Torres del Paine and cross the border into Argentina. Our journey continues to the charming town of El Calafate, renowned as the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park.

One of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing, the Perito Moreno Glacier is a must-visit. We can experience the awe-inspiring sight of massive ice chunks breaking off and plunging into Lake Argentino, creating thunderous roars that echo across the water.

Venturing through the heart of the Patagonian desert along the iconic Ruta-40, our journey brings us to the northernmost point of our photo workshop.

Days  7 – 8

As the unmistakable silhouettes of Mount Fitz Roy and the iconic spires of Cerro Torre emerge on the horizon, we’re reminded that our enchanting destination is just beyond reach. El Chaltén, a picturesque Argentinian mountain town nestled within Los Glacieres National Park will be our base for the rest of our Patagonia photo workshop.

We’ll seek the best angles for the towering granite peaks of Cerro Chaltén and Cerro Torre. From iconic vistas to the lesser-known corners we always pay attention to photograph in the best light conditions possible.

Days 9 – 10

If weather conditions are favorable, we will offer optional sunrise hikes to prime vantage points for Mt. Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre, giving us opportunities to capture shots with various backdrops such as lakes, rivers, or waterfalls.

Walks range between 4km and 10km each way and involve some elevation gain. As a group, we ensure everyone reaches the best vantage points together. These hikes might be for someone challenging but not overly strenuous, making them accessible for most participants. Participants who prefer not to hike can enjoy a separate activity organized by the second guide.
